Recently I realized that I tend to get sort of "star-struck" and nervous around people who have videos on YouTube, which seems a little off, considering how it's not a spectacular sort of accomplishment since I am on YouTube myself. And I know how little it takes to be on YouTube, I have met many middle (and possible elementary) students on YouTube, so I know first hand how easy it is to be a YouTube creator.
The two people who caused me to realize this strange phenomenon are: Dr. Diane Sieber, and Howard Pinsky.
I'll start with Dr. Sieber, since she was the first case. She was the professor for one of my classes, and through a class assignment, I learned that she gave a TED talk. I already thought she was a super cool professor and a huge sort of inspiration for me, but this kind of just sealed the deal.
The next is Howard Pinsky, and I attended a presentation by him at HackCU. I guess it was sort of amazing to me, how someone who is kind of the face of the Adobe XD learning community flew to Colorado to give a talk at a hackathon at my school.
Maybe it's because I know how hard it is to "make it" on YouTube, or maybe it's because I see them as successful "YouTubers," or maybe it's because they're adultier adults who are on a platform that I've been on for years.
